About Us

PCAJB Hospice and Palliative Care Program

The Palliative Care Association of Johor Bahru (PCAJB) was established in 2007. The main aim of the association is to provide free palliative care to the community, in and around Johor Bahru. Annually, more than 300 patients benefit from our services and the numbers are increasing! Our programs assist terminally ill cancer patients - living at home, with medical and nursing support to help them cope.

We provide compassionate and holistic care for patients, care-givers and family members. We respect our patients’ rights and choices in every aspect of how they would like to live out their remaining days. We also have a range of equipment that can be loaned to patients for their comfort.

Services are provided by a team consisting of a doctor, three staff nurses, a manager and volunteers. The team will visit patients at home, as and when the need arises. All staff and volunteers are trained and are committed wholeheartedly to the hospice philosophy. We continue to upgrade the quality of our staff and services; our Senior Nurse completed her APHN Diploma Graduate Certificate in Health (Palliative Care) at Flinders University, Adelaide and at the National Cancer Centre, Singapore. Newly recruited nurses are sent to Hospice Malaysia for practical attachments and workshops.

Approximately, RM 350,000 is incurred yearly in operational expenses – medicines, medical equipment, training programs, staff remuneration and general administrative costs.

We are very grateful to have the generous support of organizations that help raise funds for us. Many of them make yearly contributions that enable us to continue helping and serving needy patients. Donations also come from families of patients we care for.
