What We Do

 

 

Our palliative homecare program aims to provide terminally ill cancer patients with medical and nursing support to help them cope.

 

OUR TEAM:

The team consists of a doctor, three full-time staff nurses and volunteers who visit patients at home, as and when the need arises. All members and volunteers are trained in palliative care and are committed to the Hospice Philosophy. Service Features:· Service is provided within a 30 km radius of Johor Bahru· Patient care includes pain & symptom control, counselling, medical consultation · Home visits by a nurse on weekdays between 9 am to 5 pm· Visits by a doctor when medical attention is required· Basic nursing care training for the main care-giver · Whenever possible, loan of medical equipment; wheelchair, commode, oxygen concentrator, hospital bed, ripple mattress 

 

COST:

Our services to the community of Johor Bahru are free-of-charge. We are a charitable organization and depend entirely on donations from the public and corporate bodies. 

 

REFERRALS:

We accept patient referrals - by any registered medical practitioner, thus ensuring complete patient details and medical records. Patients are encouraged to continue seeing their regular doctors.The palliative care team works together with the primary care physician and oncologist to ensure optimum care and comfort of the patient.Our staff and volunteers will respect patients’ customs, culture and religious beliefs. They will not interfere in family matters and all interaction is kept strictly confidential. The patient and/or the family members may discontinue our services at their discretion.

 

QUALITY of LIFE:

Palliative care focuses on symptoms such as pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, constipation, nausea, loss of appetite, sleep disorders and depression.The care we provide will help patients gain the strength to carry on with daily life and to cope with the treatments. We help them gain more control over their care through better understand of treatment choices.

什么是慈怀理?

 

慈怀护理是给予病患和家属富于怜悯心及全面关怀的临终护理。她也提供生理、情绪、心灵和福利支援。 慈怀护理包括如何控制疼痛及症状,支援性的聆听和谅解。她尊重病患的权利和选择,如何渡过剩余的时光,尊重病人的习俗、文化及宗教信仰。 

新山慈怀护理协会的成立,是要提供居家关怀,既给那些已经失去健康和自力更生而在家里疗养的癌症病人,医药和护理方面的援助,在生理、心理和精神上协助他们。 对于那些从长期性转为突然迅速恶化不能治愈的病患,慈怀护理是个支援服务。我们的病患以晚期癌症患者居多。


我们的队伍:

 

我们的团员包括一位医生、两位全职护士、及义工。他们都经过专业训练,认同慈怀护理的理念。他们也必须掌握良好的沟通和聆听技巧。

 

我们的服务:

 

  • 在新山半径25公里范围以内;

  • 护理照料、留意医药;

  • 控制疼痛和症状及心理上的辅导;

  • 护士家访:周一至周五,9am---5pm

  • 医生的家访---若有需要;

  • 指导负责照顾病人的家属基本医疗护理,以确保病人即使在家也一样感觉舒服;

  • 若有存货,可以外借医疗器材:如病床、床褥、氧气机、轮椅、便桶箱、注射仪器,等等

 

"收费"

 

此项服务是完全提供予新山、士古来、巴西古当一代的社群。 新山是一个非营利组织,其经费来源是仰赖公众及公司、团体之慈善捐款。 转诊介绍:我们接受任何病患驻诊医院主治医生所推荐的病患。这是为了确保我们能得到病患最新的医疗报告和所服用药物的记录,以帮助我们作更进一步的护理关怀。我们也奉劝病患能和主治医生继续有预约看诊(无论是政府医院或私人医生)。因为我们希望可以和主治医生及肿瘤专家互相搭配,以确保在家里疗养的病患,得到最多的关怀和舒适。我们的职员和义工,会尊重病患的习俗、文化和宗教信仰。他们不会干预病患的家庭事务,对病患的资料保守秘密。在任何时候,病患或者其家属,都可以要求终止这项服务。 慈怀护理是一项规划良好的服务。愈早寻求慈怀的协助(例如出院之前),将能让我们有更多时间,去控制那些令人苦恼的症兆,及与医院的医疗人员取得协调。与此同时,尽早寻求慈怀的协助,也能建立更好的支援和信任,让病患及家属更有安全感,安抚他们心中的焦虑。 温馨提醒:病患必须有自家成员陪伴在侧和照顾,因为我们所提供的只是支援性的服务。
